Co-worker statistics

The total number of co-workers rose by 10% from 577 to 636 in 2010. This is less growth than in previous years overall, although Spain and Germany still had very strong expansion. The small decrease of co-workers in the UK is due to leavers from the third quarter, replacements for whom are still being recruited.

The ratio of women to men remained virtually unchanged. In 2010, Triodos Bank employed 329 women (52%) and 307 men (48%). The share of women in management positions increased to 35% (2009: 27%). Triodos Bank strives to appoint more women in management positions and also in the Supervisory Board and Triodos Investment Management. We strongly believe that a more diverse management will create a healthier culture and will have a positive impact on our achievements.

The number of temporary co-workers went down to 29.6 fte, or 5.1% of the average workforce. Most work on projects in the head office and ICT departments.

The attrition rate slightly increased to 10.9% (2009: 9.9%). In the UK the attrition rate was higher at 15.6% (2009: 14.1%). Within these figures, three women chose not to return from their maternity leave. Maternity leave entitlement in the UK is relatively long (up to 12 months) compared to the Netherlands and Spain (16 weeks) and Belgium (15 weeks) and may be reflected in attrition figures. Attrition rates among new co-workers are relatively high in the Dutch branch, and head office. Three previous Triodos Bank co-workers returned, bringing new experiences and strong motivation to contribute to the mission.
